Adopted in 2004

ALL OF THE DOGS ON THIS PAGE HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS PLEASE CLICK HERE!

Teddy

Teddy Bear, is a mellow guy, approximately 5 years old. An American Staffordshire Terrier, he looks tough, but is loveable and trusting, in spite of the fact that someone, definitely not a vet, cut off the tops of his ears.

He came to his foster family via a shelter where he was a staff favorite. Found as a stray, Teddy was lonely and stressed in a kennel. Teddy knows the commands "sit", "lie down", and "come". He is house trained and very rarely barks. Instead he communicates with soft whimpers and whines. Teddy deserves to have his trust in humans rewarded with a loving forever home. His sloppy kisses and gentle loyalty will reflect his gratitude. Teddy was adopted on December 3rd 2004!

Honey

Honey is a nine pound purebred apricot toy poodle. She is an energetic and sweet spayed female. Honey was used as a breeding dog for much of her life and never got the attention this tiny girl deserved. Honey lost the vision in her right eye from neglect. This impairment does not seem to impact her activity. She gets along with large and small dogs. She will chase cats if they run, but if they do not run, she will avoid them. Honey was adopted in November 2004!

Nicky

Nicky is a mini poodle (mix or not?) with an underbite. That's the only fierce thing about this good-natured perky little sweetheart. He loves to go exploring on walks and to settle down near his people. He's good in the car and with the dogs he's met. He was found as a stray and would be so happy to have a permanent home with a loving owner. Nicky was adopted in November 2004!

Jazz

Jazz is a 12-week old female black lab mix puppy. She is small, with white markings on her feet and chest. She is UTD on vaccinations and spayed. Jazz is currently being fostered in a home with young children and two other adult dogs. She is a bright, energetic and curious puppy. She is crate trained and just about housebroken. She would be well suited with an owner who can provide her with a lot of attention, exercise and companionship. She’s still a baby so she won’t thrive if left alone for any length of time. Jazz went to her forever home in October 2004!

Theena

Theena. This 10 month old mix is currently 21 lbs and is nearly fully grown. She is affectionate, bright, quick to learn, seems to be house broken and crate trained. Theena loves to play with other dogs, runs fast and is capable of jumping quite high. A fenced in yard is a must to properly exercise this young energetic dog. Theena went to her forever home in October 2004!

Misty
Misty is a 6 yr. old medium sized Shiba Inu / Shepherd mix. She is a lovely, gentle, undemanding dog who is fully housebroken and knows commands such as sit & stay, down, leave-it, speak, come, paw, fetch and high 5's. Misty loves car rides, walks, hikes, chasing squirrels and swimming. She is not a barker and has good house manners--will leave the room when asked, doesn’t climb on furniture, doesn’t beg from the table, etc. She is a little shy when she first meets someone but quickly warms up and wants only to be in the same room as her person. She is fine with other dogs. Misty needs to lose some weight and is now on a strict diet and regular exercise program. Misty went to her forever home in Brookline in October 2004!
Dakota

Dakota is a 1-and-a-half or 2 year old medium-sized (50 lb) german shepherd/norwegian elkhound mix, an intelligent and active youngster. She is housetrained and crate trained, and she has some obedience training. Dakota is friendly, LOVES to play with other dogs - she would be a great play companion for another high energy dog. Dakota is still doing some puppy chewing so she is crated when her caretaker is not home. She will do best with an owner who can continue her obedience training and give her lots of exercise! Dakota was adopted in October 2004!

Hazel

Hazel is a sweet, young female chihuahua. Although her actual age is unknown she is at least 1 year old and the vet feels she is not much older than that. Hazel is comfortable in a crate, completely housetrained, gets along well with other dogs, cats children, women and some men. She is affectionate, is always delighted to go for a walk and loves to snuggle into your lap. Hazel was adopted in September 2004!
Skippy

Skippy is a terrific, young male mixed breed, around 15 pounds, who loves to play with other dogs. He is somewhat shy initially, but warms up quickly to new people. He is great in the car, and great off leash. He loves long walks on the beach, challenging hikes, and morning cuddles in bed. Because of his size and protectiveness around his food, we would like this handsome fellow to go to a home without young children. He will be a great dog for anyone interested in a happy and fun companion. Skippy was adopted in September 2004!

Hannah
Hannah is a gentle, intelligent, responsive dog in a strong body. She is a two year old American Staffordshire Terrier, abandoned and wandering the city streets when she was rescued. She was taken to the Alliance for Animals shelter in South Boston where she quickly charmed everyone. Hannah became their clinic mascot, greeting all visitors both animal and human. She is sweet and playful with everyone, although timid with overly rough dogs. Hannah is too gentle for a home with a rough, agressive dog. She would get along fine with another gentle dog and with older children. Hannah is adopted!
Lucy2

Lucy is a sweet and mellow 8 year old Yellow Lab that was surrendered by an owner who felt Lucy’s life was too lonely. She will turn 9 the end of August. Lucy lived with the same family all her life but due to a set of unfortunate circumstances, she spent most of her days in an open crate in the family playroom/basement. Lucy is easy going with children, adults, dogs and cats. Her greatest joy is to chase after a tennis ball – she brings it back every time for it to be thrown again. She also loves the water where she will retrieve balls with ease. When she runs she has great stamina and a long stride – physically she is in top shape. This is a gem of a dog whose only wish is for love and affirmation. Lucy went to her forever home in September 2004 where she is being spoiled rotten as she deserves!

Lady2

Lady lived with a woman and her young son for her first two years until the family moved and Lady got lost. Five months later, Lady was found with her tags and in good shape, but her owner couldn't convince her new landlord to accept a dog in the apartment. She is a gentle and handsome pup. She gets along with dogs and children, and we were told she gets along with cats but chases them. Lady was adopted on 8/1/04!

Billy

Billy is about 4 years old, good with other dogs, housetrained, crate trained, and a real sweety. He was a stray in a local town, infested with fleas and starving. The only thing he had in his stomach was fur from chewing himself. The caring Animal Control Officer treated him for fleas and fed him several times a day to build up his strength. She called us because he is such a good boy. Billy was adopted on 7/30/04!

Dana

Dana is a 2 year old yellow lab/rhodesian ridgeback mix. She has a typical lab head, but more of a hound body and reddish coloring, She doesn't have a ridge, and is lab sized - she weighs about 60 pounds. Her owners were in financial hardship and offered her for free in a local paper, so our rescue group took her in. She’s neither aggressive nor timid, needy or stand-offish. She’s playful, fun-loving, and active outside, but able to rest quietly inside; although she can romp wildly with other dogs, she is polite and gentle in her interaction with people. She asks for things—attention, food, to get on the couch—rather than suffering in silence, but she doesn’t demand anything. Dana was adopted on 7/22/04!

Brownie Mae
Brownie Mae came from a local rescue. She was found on a busy street in the city of Boston. She is petite, about 20 pounds, and her coat is very short. Brownie Mae is on the quiet side and a bit reserved when she first meets you, but she warms up quickly, especially if you offer her a treat, which she takes gently. We estimate her age to be 3 or 4. Brownie Mae was adopted on 6/25/04!

Marley

Marley is a neutered male Schnauzer approximately 3 - 4 years old. He was a stray found in Lynn and was badly in need of grooming. He is a sweet, friendly, active dog. He loves to play fetch. He knows sit and is learning down and stay. He is very people oriented and will follow you around the house just to be close. There are no signs of being fearful of people or animals - not hand shy, doesn't cringe at loud noises such as the vacuum cleaner. He is house broken and does great in a crate. Marley was adopted on 6/24/04!
Mabel

Mabel was found on a busy street in the city of Boston. Though we feel she is best described as a Sheltie Mix, due to her small size, she may have some Retriever or Border Collie in her also. She weighs 25 to 30 pounds. She has a beautiful, thick honey colored coat. She loves to go inside her crate at times just to get some peace and quiet. Overall, she has a calm and assured manner and wants to just fit in with whatever you are doing. She enjoys running in her fenced in yard and could make a wonderful agility dog or be a good partner for a runner in the household. Mabel was adopted in June 2004!

Nomar

Nomar (Dogiaparra) is a 7 month old Boxer / mix... Speculation is Lab or Hound of some sort. He chases, and is chased, until he drops with exhaustion. He wants to be with humans as much as he can and has proven to be good with puppies, cats and kids! His story is that he was a stray, brought to a shelter by a couple who found him but couldn't keep him in their apartment. He was skinny and starved for affection. The shelter staff recognized what a sweetheart he is and called on rescue groups to save him from being put down when his 10 days at the shelter were up. ADR stepped in and he stole our hearts. This is a dog whose photo should be in the dictionary next to the word loyal. Nomar was adopted on 6/12/04!

Dublin

Dublin, Female Greyhound/Lab Mix, 7 Years

Dublin is an extremely friendly, affectionate dog, named for her grace and charm. She was found as a stray and never claimed. We think she is 6-8 years old and is still very active and playful. Dublin is at ease with everyone she meets, and gets along well with other dogs and children. She loves to play ball and, like a true lab, enjoys the water. She is housetrained and crate trained, knows sit, down, and paw. She has a calm disposition and just enjoys being with you. Dublin went to her forever home in Easton on 4/30/04!

Sara

Sara, Female Cattle Dog, 9 Years

This delightful, friendly, Cattle Dog loves people. She is playful and respectfully animated which belies her age of about 9 years. She loves to be petted, cuddled and scratched. This girl is an alpha but she gets along well with many dogs, all of whom are her size or smaller. Big dogs do intimidate her and she counters her fear by donning her "I'm tough" facade. She lived with and is good with kids. Sara was adopted on in March 2004!

Callie
Callie, Female Hound/Whippet Mix, 1 Year

Gidget/Callie is a young (1year?) female dog who is housetrained. Gidget/Callie was taken in as a stray on November 3rd by a kindhearted elderly woman, but the woman is frail and couldn't keep her. She knows 'sit', but that's about it for obedience so far. She RUNS like the wind and JUMPS like a gazelle - a GREAT agility prospect! Gidget was adopted on 3/10/04!

Gus

Gus, Male Black Golden Retriever/ Lab Mix, 8 years

Gus is a charmer and has the loving traits of a Golden Retriever. He is a really happy dog and loves humans, leaning in for lots of pets and hugs. He looks like a black Golden! He has a long, fluffy coat like a golden. Gus takes treats from your hand with a very gentle, soft mouth. This active, fun-loving dog has been trained on an electric fence, is neutered and has complete vet records. Gus was adopted on 3/7/04!

Lucy1

Lucy, Female Golden/Lab Mix, 4-6 Months

Lucy came to us after being found running loose on the streets. She was picked up by a local animal control officer. No one claimed this beautiful puppy! She is energetic, full of fun and play and loves people and other dogs. She is fully crate trained and sleeps through the night. Lucy was adopted on 2/2/04!

Buddy

Buddy is a really sweet 15 month old Golden/Terrier mix who is a nice medium size (50 lb). He is housetrained and knows basic obedience and loves riding in a car. Since his divorce, the owner is living in a condo and working long hours and just doesn't have the time that this great guy deserves. Buddy is wonderful with other dogs, he goes to doggy day care 2 days a week and loves it. He is used to leash walks and on weekend, off-leash at dog-friendly conservation areas. While he's playing with other dogs, he keeps one eye on his owner so he won't get out of signt! Buddy was adopted on 2/2/04!

Gypsey

Gypsy, Male Miniature Poodle, 3 Years

This friendly fellow has been crowned Gypsy . He was found running the streets of a small city, and nobody claimed him. When his time was up, the kind animal control officer gave us a call asking that we take him. We think that this fellow is a miniature poodle in dire need of a haircut. He is around three years old. He has been friendly with everyone he has met, so far. He is great with other dogs, and has been respectful of cats. He loves to be cuddled and to give kisses. Gypsy was adopted on 1/27/04!

Bailey

Bailey, Chocolate Lab/Weimeraner Mix, 5 Years

Bailey is the younger, big, beautiful lab. He loves learning new tricks and is very responsive. He has a wonderfully soft mouth when taking treats. He pulls hard and needs leash work, but is a very sweet, beautiful dog. He is very much a velcro dog, following his foster dad from room to room and lying close by when he sits down. Bailey was adopted on 1/19/04!

Gertie

Gertie, (formerly Penny), Female Miniature Brittany Mix, 8 years

Gertie is a real gem! This very gentle, loving, patient, Miniature Brittany mix is friendly to everyone. She gets along well with other dogs and is fine with cats. Gertie is fully house-trained, sits and gives the paw. She was found as a stray and is a little underweight. This is a truly wonderful dog. Adopted! Gertie went to her forever home on 1/14/04. She will be thoroughly pampered and well loved with her new family.

Tobey

Tobey, male chihuahua mix

Tobey is a housetrained 1yo mix - we're guessing chihuahua because of his size, but he looks like a black lab puppy! He is friendly, loves everybody. He's active, had a ball running around, over and through the agility equipment in our yard - a GREAT agility candidate. Tobey was adopted on 2/7/04!

Ruby

Ruby, Female Shepherd Mix, 10 months

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby is her name (as the song goes). We're singing Ruby's praises! She is 10 months old, and a real sweetheart. Full grown at 35 lb, she is on the small side of medium-sized. Lean and fine-boned, her legs look Sheltie but she has a shepherd-like coat, black on her back and the rest is brown with white paw-tips. A little shy at first, but loves to be petted. Ruby came from another rescue group. At the dog walking park she is wonderful on leash. Ruby was adopted on 1/16/04!
