Adopted in 2007
ALL OF THE DOGS ON THIS PAGE HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS PLEASE CLICK HERE!
Goldy, Male Poodle/Beagle Mix, 3-4 years old
Goldy has been adopted! This merry, little soul loves everybody—adults, children, dogs (not tested on cats yet). This 20-pound bundle of joy fits the bill. Update 11/29/07 - at vet visit yesterday, Goldy was diagnosed with bladder stones. She will need to be on a special diet because of this. Goldy is confident and outgoing, bonds quickly to human caretakers, adapts readily to a household routine, and plays joyfully and appropriately with people, toys, and other dogs. Bright-eyed and wagging her tail, she’s eager to engage with you in whatever activity you have in mind. She has wonderful eye contact. Despite her energy, she does have an off button and snuggles beautifully, giving the gentlest of kisses. She’s housetrained (runs to the door to let you know she needs to go out) but may not have had much formal obedience training, though she knows “Sit.” She’s a quick study. Goldy was in a pound as a 3-to-4-year-old stray, oddly with a Home Again microchip. The microchip was never registered, so they had no way of tracking her owners. She was listed as a “beagle-poo" by the pet-store that sold her; we feel there’s terrier in her, too.
Goldy went to her forever home on December 18th!

Joy, Female Shih Tzu, 7 years old
Joy has been adopted! This wonderful sweet Shih-tzu is around 7 years old and is 14 pounds. She is 100% housebroken. Joy is calm and quiet in the house but comes alive for a nice leash walk. She has gotten along with all the dogs she has met. She loves to rub up against you and fall asleep next to you. Because of her partial eyesight she can go upstairs and go down one or two stairs but needs to be carried down a full flight of stairs. She will need her ears kept cleaned due to chronic ear infections in the past that weren’t looked after. She doesn’t have great eye sight, one eye has the beginning of cataracts and the other has some scaring on the cornea. Although these conditions can’t be reversed they can be easily cared for with eye medication. Overall, Joy is a loving easygoing companion.
Joy went to her forever home on December 12th!
Suki, Female Dachshund mix, < 1 year old
Suki has been adopted! This little girl is a gem. Sweet and loving, adorable and gentle, she has a twinkle in her eye. She is one of the few dogs that the foster mom’s dog has really played with. She will take a nap cuddled in your lap or amuse herself chewing on a bone. Suki is just under a year old and weighs about 15 pounds. When first meeting new people, she is a bit shy but quickly warms up. The only problem is that she isn’t completely housetrained, and will need supervision in the beginning to get the idea across. Once that is accomplished, she’ll be a fabulous pet.
Suki went to her forever home on November 18th!
Benny, Male Chihuahua, 5 years old
Benny has been adopted!. This sweet Chihuahua was abandoned on a person’s doorstep. Benny is a 5 year old neutered male. He is completely housebroken. Benny is shy at first but once he warms up to you he is a cuddlebug. He loves to go for walks, curl up with you, and give you kisses. He seems to be his best when he is in a quiet, adult-only home. He is good with other dogs unless they bother or jump on him. He has taken a shine to another foster dog, an older Shih-Tzu and will follow her around the house and yard. He would do well with another calm dog for company if you will be away from the house for long periods of time.
Benny went to his forever home on November 12th!
Scrappy, Male Poodle/Schnauzer Mix, 8 months to 1 year old - no photo available. Scrappy has been adopted! Scrappy is a leggy, skinny, grey 19 pound young male dog with the coat of a Poodle and the face of a Schnauzer. He was found as a matted stray. He has been groomed and neutered and brought up to date on shots. Why no one claimed this charmer is a mystery. He is now micro chipped so he will never be lost again. The vets estimated 8 months old to 1 year old. He gets along with dogs and cats, and passed our evaluation with five stars. Given that he spent almost three weeks at the dog pound, he needs some reminding about housebreaking rules and leash manners. He does jump on furniture, but seems to know a lot of commands including sit, paw, stay and come. He even knows how to twirl on command! He is loving and eager to please, and very affectionate. He crates well but would prefer to rest his head on your shoulder to sleep. He loves squeak toys and playing fetch.
Scrappy went to his forever home on October 27th!27th
Darby, Male Staffordshire Terrier Mix, 7 years old
Darby has been adopted! Inside this small package is a huge loving heart. Darby is funny, sweet, energetic, joyful, playful, affectionate and athletic. His foster parents were at a loss as to how anyone could abandon such a great and loyal companion. He doesn’t require constant attention, but is grateful when it comes his way. He enjoys meeting other dogs and people. He is great with children, but not to be trusted with cats because like most terriers he has a very strong prey drive. If Darby is off leash, he meets new dogs with a friendly wiggle. His only bad behavior occurs when he on a leash and encounters a strange dog. Initially, he lunges and barks. It is how he greeted his foster family dog when they were introduced. She didn’t seem to feel at all threatened and they became great pals. With consistent training and a stable environment any residual anxiety he may have, will dissipate. He is house trained, loves to chase a ball, accepts treats with a soft mouth, enjoys car rides and curls up in an impossibly tight ball next to his foster parents whenever possible.
Darby has been adopted!
Boomer, Male Jack Russell Terrier, 4 years old - no photo available. Boomer has been adopted! Boomer was a little too energetic for the family with two small children. He now has a wonderful home with someone who can give him the exercise he needs.
Boomer was adopted on October 18th!
Chip, Male Border Terrior, 1 year old
Chip has been adopted! Chip is a 1 year old Border Terrier.
Chip was adopted in October 2007!
Tobey, Male Jack Russell Terrior/Chihuahua Mix, 4 years old
Tobey has been adopted! Tobey is 4 years old and weighs 20 pounds, and is completely house trained. He is a loving, affectionate dog with adult-sized people and will be great in the right home. Tobey is energetic and enthusiastic - he's up for activity; he'd be a great jogging or hiking companion. Then he's content to cuddle next to you or to hop on your lap. He must go to an adult-only home. Tobey likes to play with toys. He is crate trained - he sleeps in his crate and is crated when we aren't home, and he has no destructive behavior. Tobey wants to be dominant over other dogs, so he should be an only pet.
Tobey went to his forever home on September 25th!
Spencer, Male Shi Tzu 1-2 years old
Spencer has been adopted! Here is the definition of adorable Spencer. Spencer is a sweet, lovable, 1 to 2 year old 13-pound male. He was found as a skinny matted stray and sat in the dog pound waiting to be found. Spencer loves to cuddle, play with toys, and to give lots of kisses. He immediately bonded with his foster person and her dogs. Spencer doesn’t mind cats and is very friendly with children. He seems to be housebroken, but will definitely need a little more training with that. Spencer likes to be outside so a fenced in yard would be great. He also loves to go for walks and does great on a leash. We had him groomed and he has been vet checked and brought up to date on his vaccinations. He will make a great companion to some lucky person or family! Given that we do not know his history, safety dictates that he should probably not go to a home with toddlers.
Spencer went to his forever home on August 1st!
Angie has been adopted! This sweetheart has overcome some tough times and is eager to be a part of a forever family who will keep her safe and return the BIG love she wants to share. Found as a stray, she lanquished unclaimed in a shelter for 24 days before becoming a foster in our program. Her new name came about due to her obvious resemblence to Angelina Jolie - Angie for short. She wants to be with people, enjoys the company of other dogs when she doesn't feel threatened by them, she is loving, playful, and happy in spite of how frightening her recent experience has been. She appears to be about 3-4 years old, is housetrained, knows "sit" and "down" and comes running when called. She tries to please, loves to play fetch with a ball (some Lab mix?) and learned to walk on a leash with a Gentle Leader within ten minutes! Malnourished when found, Angie is very excited about breakfast and dinner, and loves the occasional treat which she accepts gracefully. Her foster family was at a loss as to how anyone could let adorable Angie get away.
Angie went to her forever home on June 28th!
Pate, Male German Shepherd/Shiba Inu Mix, 3 years old
Pate has been adopted! Pate is a gorgeous and smart dog who lost his home when the teenage boys stopped taking care of him. Pate was brought up well as a puppy, he is housebroken, crate trained, and has basic obedience training. Pate comes when called, walks well on a leash and knows 'sit'. He would love to learn more and he learns fast. He seems to bond more quickly with men, but loved his foster 'mom' and 'dad' equally, and is very affectionate. While very good natured he is also an ideal watchdog for a single person or a family as he greets welcome visitors after sounding a deep voiced alert to his people when the door bell rings. He is fine with other dogs, but will chase cats who run from him. He rides well in cars. He does not have the double coat of a German Shepherd dog, which means less shedding! He is three years old and around 60 pounds.
Pate went to his forever home on June 17th!
Jasper, Male Cocker Spaniel, 2-3 years oldo
Jasper has been adopted! Jasper, a purebred, sand colored Cocker Spaniel who was found wandering a busy street by himself. He is a friendly, affectionate, playful, and happy guy, his butt wiggling with joy when he sees you. He loves to play fetch and brings back the toy. When you get tired of throwing the ball, he plays with it by himself, throwing it in the air and catching it. We treated him for a stress related skin condition that improved in his foster home and will clear up entirely in a stable, loving home. He is a trooper at the vet's, rides well in the car, and is quiet when left alone in the house. He is fine with other dogs and cats but initially showed some jealousy if another dog neared his human. His foster home worked with him to improve in these situations. He might like to be an only dog, we think, or if not, at least have a human he can claim as his own. We estimate his age to be one to two years young, he weighs 30 lbs, small to medium in size. He loves playing in the yard while you are around.
Jasper went to his forever home on June 11th!
Tessa, Female Cocker Spaniel, 18 months oldo
Tessa has found her rightful owner. Tessa is a beautiful purebred cocker spaniel who was found in the parking lot of a mall. She is very afraid and shy. When we evaluated her, she accepted all handling and did not show any signs of food aggression. She has been fine with other dogs. We will more about her as we get to know her.
Tessa went to her home on June 11th.
Joe-Joe, Male Toy Poodle, 9 months oldoodle
Joe-Joe has been adopted! Little Joe-Joe will steal your heart. He’s 9 lbs. of love and snuggles, play and fun. This sweet 10” high Toy Poodle is only 9 months old and needs a home where he can be with his adoring owner(s) most of the day. After a long walk and play time, he’ll curl up quietly near you or on your lap. Joe-Joe is crazy about kids and likes strangers. He is polite to cats and respectful to other dogs. Although he can still get into puppy mischief, he is well behaved in his crate and is learning to do his business outdoors only (his former owner used indoor puppy pads and had to give him up due to her poor health). An attentive companion, Joe-Joe sits quietly in the car and loves to travel wherever you do.
Joe-Joe went to his forever home on May 21st!
Sammy, Male Shih Tzu, 8 months old
Sammy has been adopted! Sammy is a very sweet, loving, and playful 8 month old male neutered Shih-tzu. He is good with other dogs and cats. He quickly adapted to his foster home. He was found wandering the street alone. He likes to play ball and follow his foster mom around.

Molly, Female Cockapoo Mix, 5 years old
Molly has been adopted! Molly is a 5 year old cockapoo. During the temperament evaluation, which she easily passed, we fell in love with her. She is a snuggler and loves people. Her idea of bliss is to roll on her back and have her tummy rubbed. She will follow you around and then lay at your feet when you sit down. Molly has a heart murmer.
Molly went to her forever home on April 13th!

Poppy, Female Terrier/Beagel MIx 3 years old
Poppy has been adopted! This little snuggle-bun sweetie had to be given up after her owner broke her hip and was afraid to fall while walking her. She's three years old, 29 lbs., energetic, and would love to have a fenced yard to run around in. She has gotten along with all the dogs we've seen her with. She lived for a short time with seven cats and two boys and was great with the boys, but semi-respectful with the cats. She's a bit shy when meeting new people, but took all of two hours to take total possession of her foster home.
Poppy went to her forever home on March 31st!
Mac, Male Shih Tzu Mix, 2-3 years old
Mac has been adopted! Mac is very shy but is a fun loving goofball once he gets to know you. He seems to prefer men. He enjoys walks, LOVES hanging out in a fenced in yard, affection and belly rubs. Twenty-one pound Mac was a stray and the vet thinks he is about 2 or 3 years old. He is also crate trained and housetrained. A neurologist at Angell Memorial Hospital evaluated Mac on February 10, 2007. His primary symptom is mild incoordination of his hind legs, and a prancing type gait when he walks. His vision is mildly decreased. The most likely cause of these symptoms is a congenital problem in his neck. An expensive MRI was deemed unnecessary since his symptoms look stable. He does not require any treatment, medicine, or surgery. However, he needs a special owner sensitive to his needs. Mac is a sweet boy and a wonderful companion. The best home for Mac would be a quiet home with a single person or couple. He will probably be fine with cats.
Max went to his forever home on March 25th!
Max, Male Yellow Labrador Retriever, 1 1/2 years old
Max has been adopted! Max is a one and a half year old, beautiful, pure-bred yellow lab. He was given up because his family couldn't give him enough attention or exercise. He is good in a car, house-trained, and loving to his people. He gets along well with other dogs, though he is very timid with new people.
Max went to his forever home on January 27th!
